Welcome to JTAN

Japanese Teachers' Association of NSW was established on the 1st April 2005 as a non-profit, educational organisation for all teachers of Japanese in New South Wales. Its acronym is JTAN. The main aims of JTAN are to provide a place of mutual support and professional development for member teachers of Japanese in NSW. We hope this website will be of help to you.

Primary School Japanese

JTAN is pleased to announce that we are planning to hold a Primary Teachers' sharing resources workshop in 2017. We request that primary school teachers of Japanese please contact us with ideas and suggestions on how to make the workshop successful and beneficial. In addition, we are seeking to recruit ideas for creating appropriate Apps to be used for primary school Japanese, your input would be most appreciated. Workshop: ICT Apps & Kurikku Nippon, 17 Sep

The skills to command Apps are required for 21st Century Education. The ICT Apps workshop aims to develop an original, engaging and easily accessible App (Apple/Android), and let the three presenters and instructors to assist you. You will also receive an engaging, affordable and innovative resource for students and teachers. Please bring your own laptop or iPad.

The Click Nippon workshop will introduce you engaging activities and the resources.

The JTAN has been endorsed as a QTC endorsed provider for 5 years. We are collecting:

  • suggestions for workshop content, which you will need to maintain your teacher accreditation
  • proposals from potential presenters.

Both of them must be planned well in advance, at least 6 months before the workshop, and they are not student workshops. Please contact enquire@jtan.org.au for your suggestion, proposal or further information.

National Symposium on Japanese Language Education (NSJLE): 2016 VISIBLE and VALUABLE - Call for Papers Extended

The theme of the NSJLE 2016 is 'Visible and Valuable' with a focus on best practice and advocacy. The event will be held in Melbourne on November 4 and 5. This symposium is the only national forum for Japanese language educators and brings together JL educators and presenters from every sector, every level and every state and territory.
