Assessment and Marking Workshop

The two workshops will contribute to 4 hours towards your Teacher Identified PD hours for Australian Professional Standards 5.3.2, 6.2.2, 7.4.2 for teachers at Proficient level.

The first session will be a NSW NESA-led presentation, which will inform you about what constitutes “quality” assessment design in languages. You will learn how to write a valid examination or assessment paper, specifically focusing on Stage 6 HSC Japanese (Beginners, Continuers and Extension) Courses and the specific marking criteria for each course. (APS 5.3.2, 6.2.2, 7.4.2; 2hours)

In the second session, you will be divided into groups of Beginners, Continuers and Extension teachers, and practise marking by using the HSC Marking Guidelines. To do that, we ask all the participants to send some student responses to ’Writing in Japanese’ tasks to jtan.workshop@gmail.com by 15th November for printing. The responses should display the question and student’s response but no teacher’s annotations or student names. (APS 5.3.2, 6.2.2, 7.4.2; 2 hours)
